DIY Instructions for Replacing the WPY312959 Whirlpool Drum Belt

1. Unplug your Whirlpool dryer from the wall and turn off the gas supply if applicable.

2. Slide out the old belt. Lift up the tensioner and slide the belt off the motor pulley. Move the belt off the pulleys and idler.

3. Unfasten the screws securing the front panel and pull out the drum.

4. Fit the new belt around the drum and thread it in a counterclockwise direction around the drive motor and idler pulley. Ensure that the belt is tight by slightly pushing the drum backwards.

5. Check the tension by pressing down on the belt with two fingers at the center of the drum. A correctly adjusted belt should give about one inch of movement when pushed.

6. Reattach the front panel, secure the screws and make sure everything is back in place.

7. Plug your Whirlpool dryer back into the wall, turn on the gas supply if applicable, and turn on the dryer. Test to make sure the dryer is operating normally.

Please keep in mind, these instructions are for general guidance and should always be used in conjunction with the manufacturer's manual, if available.
