The SxS Refrigerator Temperature Sensor detects the temperature inside the refrigerator and sends this information to the electronic control. If the fresh food section of your appliance is not maintaining the desired temperature, replacing this part may alleviate the issue. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the refrigerator and novice repair experience. DIY Instructions on Replacing the Whirlpool WP2188819 THERMISTOR
1. Unplug your refrigerator from its power source.
2. Locate your Whirlpool WP2188819 thermostat on the back panel of your refrigerator.
3. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the screws that are holding the thermostat in place.
4. Carefully pull out the old thermostat and disconnect the wires attached to it.
5. Take the new Whirlpool WP2188819 thermostat and attach the wires to the corresponding terminals on the new thermostat.
6. Secure the new thermostat in place using the screws you removed earlier.
7. Plug your refrigerator back into the power source and turn it on.
8. Set the temperature according to your needs.
